Scaffolding in the Midlands tailored to your needs

T&F (Wakefield Police Job)
Tube & Fitting Scaffolding

Tube and fitting scaffolding is a versatile, traditional system made from tubes and connectors, offering customisable, secure, and adaptable structures. Widely used for complex or large-scale projects, it’s strong, safe, and flexible, with features like gates and edge protection easily integrated.

Layher System (McGoff Job1)
Layher Scaffolding

Layher scaffolding is an advanced, highly adaptable system known for its ease of use, safety, and durability. It features innovative design elements like the Allround connector for flexibility and the Layher Protect® frame for dust, debris, and noise containment. Layher scaffolding is reliable, efficient, and tailored for diverse construction needs.

T&F (F House Job1)
Edge Protection

Edge protection systems are safety barriers installed on roofs or elevated work areas to prevent falls and protect workers from injury. Essential for roofing and maintenance work, they prevent objects from falling, are easy to set up and remove and ensure compliance with safety standards.

T&F (Cliffords Tower Job)
Temporary Stairs & Access

Temporary staircases and access solutions provide safe, efficient ways to move between levels on a construction site. They are essential for preventing accidents, improving workflow, and ensuring easy transport of materials.

T&F & Temp Roof (Martime Museum2)
Temporary Roofing

Temporary roofing provides essential shelter for construction sites, protecting from weather, dust, and debris. It ensures safety by preventing rain damage and creating a comfortable work environment. Easy to install and remove, it’s vital for maintaining project progress and site safety.

T&F & Temp Roof (Martime Museum1)
Design & Calculations

Scaffolding design calculations ensure that scaffolding is safely constructed for each specific project. Using CAD software, engineers assess load conditions, structural stability, and ground suitability. These calculations are required for projects that fall outside standard TG20 specifications to ensure safety and compliance.

Questions We Get Asked...

Is it cheaper to buy or rent scaffolding?

There is no direct answer as to whether it is cheaper or not to buy or rent scaffolding, as it all depends on your business. Some factors to consider when deciding whether or not to buy scaffolding are:

  • Frequency of Use: Regular scaffolding needs might make buying a more viable investment in the long term. But if you only need it now and then, renting scaffolding is likely the more economical choice.
  • Project Duration: Renting scaffolding is generally more cost-effective for short-term projects while buying scaffolding might be a better investment for long-term use.
  • Storage Space and Transportation:  When space and transport are limited, hiring scaffolding is often the more practical option. But if you have the necessary storage and transportation options, buying scaffolding might be a smarter long-term investment.
  • Health and Safety Considerations: Whether you opt to purchase or hire scaffolding, it’s vital to ensure the equipment meets all necessary safety regulations. Health and safety should always be a priority, and working with a reputable supplier guarantees safe and reliable equipment. Evaluating these factors will help you make the best decision for your business and budget.

Will Scaffolding tip over?

Incorrect assembly or placement on uneven ground can cause the scaffold to become unstable, increasing the risk of collapse or tipping. This poses a serious danger of injuries or fatalities for workers on or around the scaffold, which is why we prioritise safety and regulations and are accredited with CHAS, NASC, Constructionline and the British Safety Council.

Does Scaffolding damage brickwork?

Due to the size and weight of scaffolding, some marks or damage may occur after dismantling, though our team takes care to minimise this.

For example, when scaffolding is suspended over structures like conservatories, small holes may be left in the brickwork or mortar from securing the scaffold. These holes are usually small and not visible from ground level.

Marks can also appear on the ground if scaffolding is placed on fragile surfaces. While protective covers or blocks are used, some scuffing or damage may still happen on decking or slabs.

Additionally, scaffolding on lower roofs may cause minor damage to tiles or flat roofs.

To minimise the risk of damage, we recommend clearing the area where scaffolding will be erected, ensuring both the safety and protection of your property.

What are the regulations around scaffolding in the West Midlands?

To calculate how much scaffolding you need, you will need to consider the following factors:

  • Project size and scope: The larger and more complex the project, the more scaffolding will be required.

  • Building height and configuration: Taller buildings or those with intricate designs require additional scaffolding for access and support.

  • Structure complexity: More complex structures often need more scaffolding to ensure safety and proper support at various work levels.

  • Workload and worker density: A higher number of workers or more intensive tasks will increase the scaffolding needed to provide adequate access and support.

  • Project duration: Longer projects will require additional scaffolding to accommodate changes in the worksite as the project progresses.

  • Safety regulations and standards: Compliance with safety regulations will also impact the amount of scaffolding required to ensure safe working conditions.

What type of scaffold is prohibited?

Shore and lean-to scaffolding are strictly prohibited.

Lean-to scaffolds are typically supported by tilting the scaffold towards a building or structure and resting against it. In contrast, shore scaffolds are positioned against a building or structure and are secured using specialised props to hold them in place.

Do you only provide scaffolding in the West Midlands?

Whilst we do specialise in providing scaffolding in the West Midlands and the North, we do also provide scaffolding solutions across the UK. Contact us for help with your scaffolding project, wherever you’re based.
